After finishing my last client session for the day, I must admit I’m exhausted. But I’m also exhilarated. I need to put my thoughts down because they’re racing in my mind. The Initial Consultation can be tough for my clients who come to me seeking help with stress, anxiety, or depression. It takes a lot of courage for them to take this step, usually as a last resort. They may not even believe they can be helped or fully understand the process, but they’re desperate enough to try anything.
I want to be careful with my words because I don’t want to sound dismissive, but I know in my heart that this is the beginning of a new chapter for them. It may take six sessions, or maybe even twelve or more, but I have absolute confidence and joy in knowing that they will get better. The moment someone puts their faith and trust in a Solution Focused Therapist and commits to the process, they start on the path to healing.
The young lady I just finished working with today asked if she could come back in the future, and I told her my door is always open. But deep down, I know she has all the tools to soar on her own now. She came to me feeling empty, not wanting to face life, struggling to even get out of bed. Life was overwhelming and she felt worthless. But now, I’m so proud of her. She has started her own business and she’s excited about every day. She told me that without this therapy, she would have missed out on all the new things she’s discovering about life.
This is more than just a job for me, it’s my vocation. It’s not complicated, it’s smart, proven, powerful, positive, and empowering. Above all, it works!
